My Professional Background
I currently work as a social worker and psychotherapist in private practice in Montréal. I also work as a consultant providing psychotherapy services to the Cree community in Northern Québec. I offer empowerment workshops for women. I worked as a social worker and psychotherapist on a mental health and addiction multidisciplinary team in a CLSC for ten years. I previously worked in a crisis centre as well as in a care home for individuals with HIV/Aids.
I have combined these work experiences with years of training and competition in martial arts, a field in which I am also an instructor. Although the connection between these two areas is not always clear, my experience has allowed me to discover that there is a very deep connection between the two. All this has inspired me to develop an integrative perspective. My practice is based on the conviction that well-being involves the individual as a whole, in the individual’s physical, psychological, emotional, relational and spiritual dimensions.
I have a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in social work from McGill University. My thesis focused on empowerment, in conjunction with the body-oriented experience. I am a member of the Ordre des travailleurs sociaux et des thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec. I have a psychotherapist’s licence from the Ordre des psychologues du Québec.
My Approach
I have developed an integrative, holistic attitude. I use systemic-interactional and cognitive-behavioural approaches. I also draw inspiration from the existential-humanistic approach. I will help you make your life projects and ambitions more satisfying by refocusing them on your strengths, your constructive resources and those in your environment.
My approach to psychotherapy is centred on the individual, their life trajectory, the needs this trajectory hoped to meet, as well as the state of the individual’s personal power in the face of life’s various difficulties.
I can assure you that you will be greeted with a genuine and kind welcome and a respectful and considerate attitude in order to create a therapeutic alliance with you as well as a quality relationship of trust.
